Services and history

Meet a Need (M.A.N) originated from the foundational belief that access to basic necessities should be a universal right without financial constraints. Before extending its outreach to the Covington community in Tipton County, M.A.N was dedicated to providing fundamental clothing items to students within the Tipton County School District, in Spring of 2021. To address potential obstacles to academic focus, M.A.N established and maintained a clothing closet within schools, ensuring that students faced no hindrances in their pursuit of education.

Recognizing the broader needs of students, M.A.N identified a correlation between the lack of basic necessities for students and the potential challenges faced by their parents. This realization inspired the implementation of biannual clothing outreaches, where families could shop at no cost, enabling them to acquire essential clothing for success in their daily lives.

Meet a Need's inaugural outreach occurred in December 2021. Donations were procured through engagement with various Tipton County sales platforms, where inquiries were made about individuals' willingness to contribute. A substantial number of individuals expressed their support by donating to our cause, and there was also a notable willingness among community members to volunteer their time. Volunteers actively assisted in aiding families by facilitating the selection of appropriate clothing sizes, thereby contributing to the success of our outreach efforts.
